Rajasthan Royals' left-arm pacer Nandre Burger recently opened up about sledging with former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli. Nandre Burger said that he would relish engaging in a sledging match with Virat Kohli, stating that he enjoys the competitive aspect of cricket.
Rajasthan Royals will take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 'Eliminator' match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22. The two teams will be hoping to secure victory in the must-win game to advance to 'Qualifier 2' of the Indian Premier League 2024.
Virat Kohli has been in excellent form with the bat in the ongoing tournament. Kohli is the leading run-getter with 708 runs in 14 innings at an average of 64.36 and a strike rate of 155.60. The right-handed batter has hit one century and five half-centuries, with the best score of 113* against the Royals.
Enjoy The Competitive Side Of It - Nandre Burger
In a video shared by the Rajasthan Royals, Donovan Ferreira asked Nandre Burger about his experience with sledging batters. Burger mentioned that he didn't have a specific batter he enjoyed sledging. However, he stated that engaging in a sledging match with Virat Kohli could be enjoyable.
"I don't think there's any specific batsman I enjoyed sledging. I just think I enjoy the competitive side of it. But I think during the India series, people thought myself and Virat had a little thing, which we actually didn't. There was no sledging happening there. It was just staredowns. But I think to get into a little sledging match with him would be quite fun. I think I'd enjoy it," Burger said.

Donovan Ferreira responded humorously to his teammate's plans to sledge Virat Kohli by saying, "I don't know. Good luck."
Nandre Burger posed challenges to the visiting batters with his pace during India's tour of South Africa 2022-23. Virat Kohli scored 172 runs across two matches, averaging 43.00 with a strike rate of 79.63. The visiting team secured victory in the second Test and managed to draw the series.
Virat Kohli Could Go Well Past His IPL 2016 - Matthew Hayden
Speaking to Star Sports, former Australian opener Matthew Hayden predicted that Virat Kohli could surpass his own record for the highest-ever runs scored by a batter in a single IPL season.
"We are looking at Virat Kohli celebrating his second-best season thus far. He could go well past his IPL 2016 performance in the kind of form that he’s in. So more than anything, I just think it’s the energy and the love of the game, the passion, the commitment for it all—all of those describing words that you can glorify this great man with, whether it be on the field or with bat in hand," Hayden said.
In the IPL 2016, Virat Kohli scored an impressive 973 runs in 16 matches at an average of 81.08. The ace batter needs 266 more runs to surpass his own record. With potentially three matches left for his team, RCB, Kohli has the opportunity to achieve this milestone if they reach the final.
