We might have seen the last of MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the keeper-batter might soon announce his retirement, although there is no official confirmation as of yet. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) keeper-batter did his best with the bat to take his team to playoffs but couldn't.
A lot of hopes of the Chennai Super Kings fans were alive when MS Dhoni was at the crease against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The game was a virtual eliminator as both the teams needed to win to lock the 4th place in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Even though Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted 218 runs, Chennai Super Kings needed 200 runs to qualify for the playoffs. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals but the presence of MS Dhoni at the crease gave them a sigh of relief as they believed they were in the game.
MS Dhoni kept them in the hunt and played some great shots. With Chennai Super Kings needing 17 runs off the last over to qualify for the playoffs, he brought his team back into the game. The keeper-batter hit a big 110-meter six to Yash Dayal and the ball went out of the ground at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
However, on the next ball, he got out and it gave heartbreak to many. There were a lot of speculations about the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru being the last for MS Dhoni. The keeper-batter was on the verge of hanging up his boots last year but he pushed himself for the fans and stated he will be playing one more season.
While there's still no confirmation about MS Dhoni's retirement, Royal Challengers Bengaluru all-rounder Mayank Dagar made sure he takes the autograph of the Chennai Super Kings batter. The youngster after the game went to CSK's dressing room and took a sign of Dhoni on his bat.
Notably, this was the first positive video to come out for MS Dhoni in the last few days as earlier the clips that went viral on social media showed the negative side of MS Dhoni where he was caught abusing Yash Dayal and skipping the post-match handshakes.
