Former India cricketer S Sreesanth is facing a police case in north Kerala’s Kannur district following a cheating complaint lodged by a man, as per PTI. The police registered the case based on the complaint, accusing Sreesanth, Rajiv Kumar, and Venkatesh Kini of cheating.
The resident of Choonda, Sareesh Gopalan, has accused Rajiv and Venkatesh of taking Rs 18.70 lakh on various dates since April 25, 2019. The complainant claimed that they took money to establish a sports academy in Kollur, Karnataka, with Sreesanth as a partner.

Sareesh Gopalan, in his complaint, accused Sreesanth and the others of inducing him to invest under the pretense of partnership in the academy. Sreesanth and the two have been charged under IPC Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
According to the complaint, Sreesanth assured the complainant of building a villa for him on five cents of land as part of the project, but no further communication occurred, which prompted the complainant to file a fraud petition before the Kannur First Class Magistrate.
S Sreesanth’s Impressive Career In International Cricket
The Kerala-born cricketer represented India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 10 T20Is in international cricket. He demonstrated his bowling prowess by claiming 87, 75, and seven wickets across the formats. The pacer last played for the Indian national cricket team back in 2011.
He faced a life ban from the BCCI over his alleged role in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, which was later reduced to a 7-year suspension. The ban concluded in September 2020 and was returned to the Kerala team in 2021. However, he announced his retirement in 2022.
Sreesanth played for IPL franchises like Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals from 2008 to 2013. The right-arm pacer was part of the Rajasthan Royals’ franchise in the 2013 edition of the IPL. However, his career faced a setback due to the spot-fixing controversy.
