Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth has landed in hot water yet again, although this time not for his on-field antics but for showing support to Sanju Samson. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has slapped a three-year suspension on S Sreesanth, accusing the former bowler of making false and damaging remarks about the association.
Sreesanth’s emotional outburst didn’t sit well with the Kerala Cricket Association officials, and they swiftly responded to the accusations with a suspension after a special meeting in Kochi.
Earlier this year, Sreesanth openly backed Sanju Samson after his exclusion from India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking on a Malayalam TV, Sreesanth had expressed his frustration over the unfair treatment of Samson, whom he called "God’s own son."
S Sreesanth breaks silence on his suspension by KCA
The disciplinary action was taken after a special meeting in Kochi on April 30, where KCA felt that Sreesanth’s remarks crossed the line. However, Sreesanth claimed that he was only speaking from the heart for the betterment of Kerala cricket, but KCA took it otherwise.

S Sreesanth said in a video message shared on his Instagram account, “You must have known that the Kerala Cricket Association has banned me for three years; at least that’s what they’re saying. I don’t know what I have done wrong. I only had good intentions for God’s own country and God’s own son, supported Sanju.”
He wrote in the caption, “My involvement in various cricketing initiatives, coaching camps, and mentorship programs has further solidified my role as a supporter of Malayali cricketers. I have always taken the time to identify and uplift talented individuals, ensuring they receive the recognition and support they need to succeed. Whether it’s through social media campaigns or direct engagement with local cricketing bodies, my dedication to the growth of cricket in Kerala is commendable.”

While S Sreesanth was handed a suspension, other Kerala Cricket League franchises—Kollam Aeries, Alappuzha Team Lead, and Alappuzha Ripples—who were also served notices, escaped punishment after submitting clarifications. The KCA, however, issued a strict warning for future conduct.

Sreesanth added, “My unwavering support for Kerala cricket and its players is a testament to my love for the game and my desire to see my home state flourish in the cricketing arena. My efforts to uplift deserving Malayali cricketers will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the future of cricket in Kerala.”

Sanju Samson ignored for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Notably, Samson was not picked for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, as the wicketkeeper-batter reportedly refused to take part in the pre-season camp. Actually, KCA overlooked Samson in the squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this year after he denied taking part in the training camp.
This eventually forced the BCCI to follow the rules, overlooking the Kerala star for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 that they won in Dubai in March. After which, Sreesanth slammed the KCA for doing politics and ruining Samson’s career on a live TV show, and now paid the price for it.
