Before Bangladesh, they toppled the Aussies in the Super 8s as well. Australia losing to India did not help the team's cause either.

This is the very first time that South Africa have qualified for the semi-finals of a T20 World Cup since 2014. For Afghanistan, this tournament has been a first of many. They qualified for the Super 8s for the first time and are now in the semi-finals of the tournament.
