Markram has achieved recent success with Sunrisers Eastern Cape, winning consecutive SA20 titles in 2023 and 2024, and finishing as runners-up in 2025. The franchise can also use a right-to-match option for him during the auction.

Several of South Africa’s red-ball stars from the ICC World Test Championship-winning squad, Kyle Verreynne, David Bedingham, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Tony de Zorzi, and Dane Paterson, are also included in the auction pool.

Shakib Al Hasan Included in International Lineup

Former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan, along with fellow Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman, will feature in the international lineup. England pacer James Anderson will be joined by Alex Hales, Moeen Ali, Tom Abell, Adam Rossington, Jordan Cox, and Daniel Worrall.

Other notable internationals include Australia batter D’Arcy Short and New Zealand opener Devon Conway, who was born in South Africa.

A new Under-23 category allows franchises to pick two South African players aged 23 or younger at the start of the tournament. Rising talents like Dewald Brevis, Kwena Maphaka, and Andile Simelane are eligible under this category.

Franchises will fill 19-member squads with a minimum of nine South Africans, seven overseas players, two Under-23 South Africans, and one Wildcard player.

The total budget for the auction is 131 million rand (around USD 7.37 million), with 84 slots available, including 25 for overseas players. The event will be streamed live on JioHotstar in India and across the tournament’s YouTube and social media channels.
