A normal discussion among the England legends David Lloyd, Alastair Cook, and Michael Vaughan and former Australia batter Mark Waugh suddenly turned into a funny and unforgettable moment when Sachin Tendulkar became the surprise talking point during a live podcast.
During an episode of the cricket show Stick to Cricket, Mark Waugh shared his all-time XI. To everyone’s shock, Waugh has not included Sachin Tendulkar in his shared all-time XI.
Bumble’s Call, Sachin Gone: Podcast moment broke the internet
This immediately surprised the panel because the legendary Indian batter is almost always one of the first names picked whenever the greatest cricketers of all time are discussed.
Amidst the confusion and doubt in the studio, Michael Vaughan, former England captain, suggested taking a bold step and calling Sachin Tendulkar live on the show. Well, David Lloyd agreed to the idea and dialed the Indian legend on air. The moment quickly turned hilarious.
As the phone rang, Lloyd kept introducing himself as “Bumble,” his famous nickname. Just when it felt like Tendulkar might answer, the call suddenly disconnected. Lloyd casually said, “He’s gone,” and the studio burst into laughter. Now, the clip of the moment went viral on social media.
"You'll have to ring him."

Mark Waugh puts Viv Richards, Brian Lara, and Sachin Tendulkar on the same pedestal
However, it seems that it was all for fun, as Waugh later included Tendulkar in his all-time XI, where he also named Viv Richards and Brian Lara. The Aussie revealed that he was growing up watching Richards, saying the West Indies legend was his No. 1 player.
When Waugh was asked to name the greatest batsman he had ever seen, he found it hard to choose just one. Instead, he named three legends together. Waugh said, “Richards, Lara, and Tendulkar are my top three. I don’t think I can pick one.”

Sachin Tendulkar’s records still stand tall as Virat Kohli and Joe Root chase history
Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar is still the most capped player in international cricket history and the highest run-scorer the game has ever seen. Across formats, the Master Blaster scored 34,357 runs in 664 matches. He retired from the game in 2013 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. To date, no batter has matched Tendulkar’s record of 100 international centuries.
Among current players, Virat Kohli is the closest to Tendulkar’s massive international run tally. Kohli now has 28,091 runs across the formats and sits second on the all-time list. He is still more than 6,000 runs behind Tendulkar, but he has the chance to come really close to that tally, with the 2027 World Cup expected to be his final appearance for India.
Kohli has already broken one of Tendulkar’s biggest records by surpassing his tally of ODI centuries. In Test cricket, England batter Joe Root (13943) is also getting closer in terms of runs, trailing Tendulkar (15921) by less than 2,000. However, Root (41) is still well behind Tendulkar (51) when it comes to centuries in the longest format of the game.
