The Pakistan National Cricket Team will be up against Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series and also a tri-series in which the Island nation will be featuring alongside the England National Cricket Team. Ahead of the white-ball series, the Men in Green have named their squad for the T20I and ODI side, as Sahibzada Farhan has been named captain for the side.
The Men in Green have been in poor form across formats. They lost to Bangladesh in the ODI series and won against Australia. But they were outplayed in the Test series against England in England. Despite reaching the final of the Asian Games 2026, they lost to India by 19 runs and won the silver medal.
Sahibzada Farhan named as captain
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday evening announced the T20I and ODI squad for the forthcoming series. Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as the captain, with Salman Ali Agha sacked from the role and also dropped from the T20I squad. But he remains in the ODI squad as of now. It was inevitable after they failed in the T20 World Cup 2026.
Sahibzada Farhan has been the side’s best T20I batter in recent times. He has single-handedly won matches for the Men in Green in this format and was also the leading run-scorer of the major tournament, as he scored 383 runs with an average of 76.60; he scored two hundreds in the tournament with a strike rate of 160.25.

Shaheen Shah Afridi retains captaincy
Shaheen Shah Afridi retains his captaincy in the 50-over format as Babar Azam has been included in the side, with Sahibzada Farhan missing out on the ODI squad. Interestingly, Salman Agha keeps his place in the ODI squad.
It has been a turmoil for the Pakistan side, as their ODI captain has not been at his best in international cricket and was thus dropped from the Test and T20I squad. India basher Hasan Nawaz, who was excellent in the final, scoring 96 runs, has got a place in both sides.
Pakistan T20I and ODI fixtures
The T20I series opener between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played on October 9th October at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and the next two games are on 11th and 13th of October. This is a huge series for the Men in Green, who have been in decent form in the T20I format.
Pakistan will then play in the ODI tri-series alongside England and Sri Lanka. Rawalpindi will be hosting the first three games of the seven-match series before the tournament moves to Lahore for the remaining group matches and the final.
