Team India opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal made a big revelation about his verbal fight with Australian opener Sam Konstas during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 23-year-old stated that Konstas was taunting him repeatedly and added that Rohit Sharma gave him guidance on the field.

Jaiswal sledged Sam Konstas during the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The stump mic captured the young Indian batter mocking Konstas during Australia’s first innings with remarks like, “What happened, are you not playing any shots now? Hey Konstas, can't you hit a shot anymore?”

Jaiswal admitted that he deliberately hit a ball at Konstas in response. He also recounted feeling nervous while fielding at silly point and credited Rohit Sharma for providing guidance and support during those tense moments.

"When I was batting, he was giving it to me. He’s a bit weird. When I was batting, he was forcefully saying things to me. I got a bit angry and said, “Okay”," Jaiswal said.

"Nathan Lyon bowled a ball, and I gave it a whack. Actually, I hit him on purpose that day. Later, I was fielding at silly point and Steve Smith was lifting his bat and I said, “Baap re”. It was a really flat wicket. That time, Rohit Sharma gave me some bamboo,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his Test debut against the West Indies in July 2023, said that batting alongside Rohit Sharma was an enjoyable experience. The 23-year-old said that Rohit’s words are inspiring and for the team’s benefit.

“Rohit bhai is alag level. It is great fun being around him. With him, even when he says something, we learn a lot from his words, but we know he’s saying things for our own good. His words inspire me a lot,” Jaiswal said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Overlooked for India's Squad for Asia Cup 2025

Jaiswal opened the batting alongside Rohit Sharma in Test cricket from July 2023 until Rohit retired in May 2025. He gained valuable experience from the senior player.

The left-handed batter was overlooked for India’s main squad for the Asia Cup 2025 and was included only as a standby. He has played 23 T20I matches, scoring 723 runs at an average of 36.15 and a strike rate of 164.32, including five half-centuries and one century.

Jaiswal is expected to next feature in India’s two-match Test series against the West Indies, beginning on October 2 in Ahmedabad, where he will open alongside KL Rahul.
