Sandeep Sharma slammed Rajasthan Royals for not making the most of crucial moments after his team’s narrow 11-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore in match number 42 of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday (April 24).
The seasoned pacer admitted that crucial moments slipped through their fingers. He pointed out that the missed chances have been costing the Rajasthan Royals big in the ongoing IPL 2025.
With the match within their reach, RR couldn’t seal the deal against the RCB, as they could manage only 194/9 in their 20 overs while chasing 206 runs to win the game in Bengaluru.
It was the Rajasthan Royals’ fifth straight loss in the ongoing IPL 2025, and Sandeep emphasized that to avoid more close losses, the team must learn to seize key moments and avoid making repeated mistakes that continue to haunt them in the tournament.

Sandeep Sharma said at the post-match presentation, “I won't say it's going wrong, but obviously the crunch moments of the match, whether it's a chase or we're defending, we're not able to catch them. And in the T20 game, every team has those moments. So, it's very important to catch them.”
The RR bowler further explained, “This year, it's happening that a crucial catch is being missed. Or in chasing, when we have to accelerate a batsman, he gets out at the same time. So, this happens in T20. And that's our biggest concern.
Whenever it's time to accelerate in batting, our wickets are going away. We're crumbling in the crunch moments, and we're not able to win those moments. We are failing to capitalize on opportunities, which is why we are unable to win matches.”

Sandeep Sharma blames batters for RR's poor IPL 2025 campaign
Sandeep Sharma has pinpointed a key reason behind RR’s struggles this season. He believes that while the team is planning to accelerate and chase down targets, crucial wickets keep falling at the wrong moments, disrupting their strategies.
Sandeep Sharma recalled how players like Riyan Parag, Dhruv, and Yashasvi helped seize critical moments for the team in the last season, and their fielding was also impressive. Sandeep signed off by saying, “This year, that's a lacking part. So, I feel that's why matches are costing us.”

Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for the Royals against the RCB, taking two wickets for 45 runs in his four overs as the hosts posted 2025/5 on the board, thanks to brilliant fifties from Virat Kohli (70 runs off 42 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (50 runs off 27 balls) in the match.
Chasing the target, RR had a great start, but yet again the batters failed to execute their plans, and there was no contribution from half of the team, and they eventually lost the game by 11 runs against the RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday.
With this loss, RR’s IPL 2025 playoff hopes are almost finished, as they have now lost seven of their nine games so far in the tournament. On the other hand, RCB is close to confirming its berth in the playoffs.
