Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has called on the ICC and BCCI to take action after separate incidents involving Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The former India batter questioned whether allowing such behaviour to go unchecked could have consequences for the two youngsters.
Sanjay Manjrekar's comments came after Yashasvi Jaiswal was sanctioned for his confrontation with Sri Lanka pacer Asitha Fernando during the second Test in Colombo, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was involved in an on-field altercation with Sri Lanka A's Vishen Halambage during the India A-Sri Lanka A tri-series match in Dambulla.

The two incidents took place in different matches and involved different circumstances, but Sanjay Manjrekar believes both situations deserve attention from the game's governing bodies. He shared his view on X on Wednesday morning.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's full incident explained
Sooryavanshi was involved in a heated exchange with Sri Lanka A batter Vishen Halambage after India A lost their tri-series encounter in Dambulla in a Super Over. The match had been tied after 50 overs, before Sri Lanka A prevailed after scoring 16 in the super-over shootout and restricting India A to nine.
The confrontation occurred after the game, with Halambage and Wanuja Sahan exchanging words with the departing India A batters. Suryansh Shedge was seen pointing his bat towards Halambage before Vaibhav Sooryavanshi returned to the exchange. The two players then appeared to shove each other before Niroshan Dickwella stepped in to separate them.
The match itself had several unusual twists. Sri Lanka A had needed five runs from the final over, but Arshad Khan conceded only four to force a Super Over. The shootout was eventually played despite fading light, while a high full toss that was initially caught also required an umpire review before being called a no-ball.
Yashasvi Jaiswal's full incident explained
Jaiswal's incident occurred after he was dismissed by Asitha Fernando on the opening morning of the second Colombo Test. The India batter turned back towards the Sri Lankan fast bowler after appearing to react to the celebrations, leading to a confrontation between the pair.
Yashasvi Jaiswal had made 45 from 53 deliveries before his dismissal. India eventually reached 300 for 5 by stumps on the opening day, with the series already standing at 1-0 after their 165-run victory over Sri Lanka in Galle.
