LSG put on a competitive score
Lucknow Super Giants lost a thrilling game to Delhi Capitals to start their IPL 2025 campaign in a disappointing fashion. It was not the start that Super Giants would have wanted but thay failed to win crucial moments of the game.
After being put in to bat first, LSG got off to a superb start from Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. While Markram was dismissed, Marsh and Nicholas Pooran thrashed DC's bowlers in a breathtaking display of stroke-making.
Both the players looked to take the game away before Mukesh Kumar dismissed Marsh for a well-made 72 off just 36 balls. Skipper Rishabh Pant was out for a six-ball duck on his LSG debut. After some belligerent hitting. Pooran was finally bowled by Mitchell Starc for 75 off just 30 balls.
Pooran smashed 6 fours and 7 sixes during his knock. The last few overs didn't go down well for Lucknow and they were reduced to 209-8 in 20 overs. David Miller provided a cameo in the end with 27 off 19 balls.
Delhi Capitals chase down a big target
In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a poor start having lost Jake Fraser-McGurk in the first over itself. Delhi were soon reduced to 7-3 as LSG looked to take the game away. They lost another wicket in the powerplay as skipper Axar Patel was also out cheaply.
The repair work started then as Tristan Stubbs carried from where he left the last season. He smashed three gigantic sixes during his knock but was out for 34. DC required a big partnership and the two young Indian players provided that.
Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj NIgam formed together a quickfire 55-run partnership to take DC closer. Despite losing Nigam for a fiery 15-ball-39, Ashutosh stayed till the end to take DC home with three balls to spare.
