Sanju Samson speaks on his stellar knock

After the match, India captain Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson had a conversation which was shared by the BCCI on social media. Suryakumar asked Samson to open up on his brilliant knock.

The wicketkeeper-batter revealed that it was an emotional moment since he had been waiting for this knock for a long time. He spoke about believing in himself and the processes which led to his success.

"Very happy, out of words, very emotional! But very grateful to God almighty that it has happened. I just kept on doing my work, and kept on believing in myself. Happy that you (Suryakumar Yadav) were there to celebrate with me," Samson stated.

Samson reached his hundred off just 40 balls. He hit a four straight over the bowler's head to reach his maiden T20I hundred. It was the second-fastest T20I hundred by an Indian after Rohit Sharma, who struck a T20I century off just 35 balls.

Sanju Samson reveals the message from Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav

Sanju Samson further credited the team atmosphere for India's aggressive approach. He revealed the two words from the head coach Gautam Gambhir and the captain Suryakumar Yadav 'aggressive' and 'humble' which has helped the team gain more clarity.

"The atmosphere that we have created these many weeks right from Sri Lanka, the only message is 'Jao (go), aggressive and humble. These are the two words that our captain and coach keep reminding us," Samson said.

"That suits my nature, my character and I kept on going for it. You (Surya) gave me some clarity. I was on 96 and was saying that I would hit it. But Surya told me to take some time," he added.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav termed Samson's knock as one of the best he has ever seen. "One of the best hundreds I have ever seen," Suryakumar said.

Sanju Samson shows his full range

Sanju Samson's knock was filled with silky and powerful drives that he is known for. He made full use of the powerplay restrictions despite losing his opening partner Abhishek Sharma early as India amassed 82-1 in the first six overs.

He did not stop even when the spinners came to bowl. The right-hander showed his full range of strokes as the field spread out. In the 10th over of the match, he smashed 5 sixes off the legspinner Rishad Hossain. By the time he was at the crease, he played some effortless shots all around the ground.

But the road wasn't an easy one for this talented Indian cricketer. Samson failed to get going in the first two games and was under huge pressure before this match. But he came out on top and was relieved after this inning.
