The Indian wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson has expressed a desire to hit 6 sixes, which is his biggest cricketing dream before he hangs up his boots in international cricket.
Sanju Samson has suddenly gained much hype and media attention after being linked with CSK for the upcoming season of the IPL. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by either the Super Kings or the Rajasthan Royals.
However, it has been reported that Samson is unhappy with the Rajasthan Royals management and has formally expressed his desire to leave the franchise and move to some other team through trade or feature in the mini-auction.
Sanju Samson reveals biggest cricketing dream
Sanju made a recent appearance on former teammate Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube podcast, 'Kutti Stories with Ashwin.' The 30-year-old right-handed wicket-keeper batter from Kerala made his debut as a young 20-year-old against Zimbabwe back in 2015.
Samson has played in 42 T20 internationals and 16 ODI games for the Men in Blue, and last year he also became the first batter to score three international centuries in one calendar year in International cricket.
After a decade in international cricket, where he has played in 42 matches, scoring 861 runs with three centuries, Ashwin asked him to name one cricketing dream he would like to tick off before hanging up his boots, to which Samson replied, "Probably hitting six sixes in one over."
Batter with 6 sixes in a single over in an International game
As Sanju Samson expressed his desire to hit 6 sixes in one over, it reminds us of an over against Bangladesh in the final T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium during the T20 series last year. He had almost aced his dream with 5 sixes in a single offer.
Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian all-rounder, was the first cricketer to hit six sixes in a single over in a T20I match against England in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup. Former West Indies player Kieron Pollard also has the same record of 6 sixes in an over against Sri Lanka in 2021.
Nepal batter Dipendra Singh Airee and Manan Bashir of Bulgaria hit such similar 6 sixes in an over against Qatar and Gibraltar, respectively. South African Herschelle Gibbs and USA batter Jaskaran Malhotra have also hit 6 sixes in a single over in the 50-over format.
Sanju Samson likely to be India's opener for Asia Cup 2025
Indian wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson has been a star in the shortest format of the game ever since Gautam Gambhir entrusted him with the opening role and showed immense faith in the batter. He has scored three centuries since then, one against Bangladesh and the other two in a series against South Africa.
In the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, India is looking forward to bringing back Shubman Gill, the promising batter, and his arrival would pose a query on whether Gill could begin India's proceedings alongside a partner, either Samson or Abhishek Sharma.
