Sanju Samson To Lead Kerala In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023

Indian player Sanju Samson has been appointed as the skipper of the Kerala team in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. Sanju Samson was snubbed from India’s squad for the ICC World Cup 2023 last month.
Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 commences on October 16. It is a domestic T20 tournament. Every domestic team in India is part of the tournament. Mumbai is the defending champions of the tournament.
Sanju Samson Appointed As Kerala Skipper In SMAT 2023
Sanju Samson has been appointed as the skipper of the Kerala team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. M Venkataramana will begin his journey as Kerala head coach in the tournament.
Kerala is part of Group B in the first round and will play against Himachal Pradesh in their opening match on October 16. The match takes place at BKC ground in Mumbai. Below is the Kerala squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023.

Kerala squad: Sanju Samson (capt), Rohan Kunnummal (vice-capt), Jalaj Saxena, Shreyas Gopal, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Sachin Baby, Vishnu Vinod, Abdul Bazith, Sijomon Joseph, Vaishak Chandran, Basil Thampi, K M Asif, Vinod Kumar, Manu Krishnan, Varun Nayanar, Ajnas M, P K Midhun, Salman Nizar.
Sanju Samson also plays for the national team. He was expected to be part of the India squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. However, Ishan Kishan was picked over him as the backup wicketkeeper for India in the tournament.
A total of 37 teams are part of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. They are divided into five groups- A, B, C, D, and E. In the first round, teams of each group will take on each other. In the end, only a few teams will qualify for the quarter-finals. The final will take place on November 6 at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
