Pakistan National Cricket Team have yet again been marred by management issues. On Monday (28th October), Gary Kirsten, who was recently appointed as the head coach of the team, stepped down from the post in what was a shock for many.

Gary Kirsten's resignation was accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board immediately, and after that, they made interim coach as well. Jason Gillespie, who is the red-ball coach of the team, will be the head coach of the team for the upcoming white-ball tour to Australia and Zimbabwe.

However, this hasn't stopped the Pakistan Cricket Board from looking for a new head coach for the white-ball cricket. As per the various reports in the Pakistan media, it is learned that the governing body isn't keen to bring any foreign coach. The board wants a local name in the coaching set-up.

Saqlain Mushtaq has emerged as a strong candidate to take over the role

The reports claimed that former Pakistan National Cricket Team spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has emerged as a strong candidate to take over the role. It is learned that white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has also expressed his support for him to take over the job and the skipper could play a huge role in that.

Saqlain Mushtaq is currently serving as a mentor with the PCB and his previous success with the white-ball ball team has made him a strong contender. He also served as a Director at the PCB’s High Performance Center for International Player Development. And there are high chances he would take the role.

Aaqib Javed another candidate to take over as the head coach of the team

Not only Saqlain Mushtaq, but Aaqib Javed also seems to be another candidate to take over as the head coach of the team. The former player of the team also has expressed his desire to be the head coach of the team but has demanded the full authority of the team.

Aaqib Javed earlier received a lot of offers from the team to be the bowling coach of the team. He declined and expressed a preference for a more comprehensive leadership position. However, that wasn't accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board, but with posts available, there might be high chances.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will make the final decision on the appointment of a permanent white-ball team coach

Aaqib Javed has a fair amount of coaching experience for the team. He was with the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. Javed recently was the bowling coach of the Sri Lankan national team. He currently is the selector of the team and was credited a lot after Pakistan won the Test series against England.

The reports claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will make the final decision on the appointment of a permanent white-ball team coach after consulting with all key stakeholders. It remains to be seen who will take over the role in the team.
