Scotland will play England in their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign opener on Tuesday, June 4. This is the first game of both sides in this World Cup. Also, this is the first-ever T20I match between the two sides.

Scotland are placed alongside England, Australia Namibia and Oman in Group B. They played a warm-up game and lost to Afghanistan while the other warm-up game was washed out.

The Scottish team will be led by Richie Berrington. several other players were a part of the T20 World Cup 2022 as well. Thus the players are experienced enough to play in big tournaments. This being a 20-team event allows teams like Scotland to make a big impact and take on big teams.

Youngster Jones should open the batting against England. He has a best of 86 in T20Is and should be given in the long run. He made his T20I debut in 2022.

Brandon McMullen

Mullen is a batting all-rounder and will bat at three. The 24-year-old has a best of 96 and also picked a wicket. He gives the side an additional bowling option too.

Richie Berrington (C)

Berromngton will lead the side. He has played 89 T20Is and is a veteran batter of the side. Being the skipper, he has to take extra responsibility with the bat. He has scored over 2000 runs with the bat.

Matthew Cross (WK)

Cross is another experienced batter in the side with 69 T20Is to his name. He along with skipper Berrington and Michael Leask form the core of the middle-order.

Michael Leask

Leask is another batting all-rounder with a lot of experience. He has played 59 T20Is having scored close to 600 runs and picked up 40 wickets.

Chris Greaves

Greaves is another batting all-rounder. He has played 25 T20Is having scored over 250 runs and picked up 16 wickets. The all-rounder will look to make an impact with the bat in the big game.

Mark Watt

Watt the left-arm spinner will slot in at eight. He scored top-scored with 34 in the match against Afghanistan. He also took 1 for 27 with the bat. Watt has scored 77 wickets in 62 games.

Christopher Sole

Sole is one of the lead pacers of this Scotland side. He bowled well in the last World Cup. He made a good impression with the bat picking up 3/25. He can pose problems early on to the England openers.

Brad Wheal

Wheal is the other pacer in the side. He took 1/35 in the warm-up match against Afghanistan. He has a big role to play with the ball in the game.

Bradley Currie

Currie concludes the likely playing XI for Scotland. He provides the left-arm angle to the bowling lineup and also can swing the ball. He picked 2/26 with the ball against Afghanistan.
