Scott Boland becomes first bowler since 1975 to achieve monumental Test milestone

Australia National Cricket Team pacer Scott Boland achieved a unique feat in the history of Test cricket. The premier fast bowler became the oldest pacer to take 50 wickets in the longest format of the game at the age of 35y 267d since New Zealand's Bevan Congdon (37y 10d) reached the milestone in Feb 1975.

Australia National Cricket Team pacer Scott Boland achieved the feat during the ongoing fifth Test match against the India National Cricket Team. The last game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between the teams is taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

Scott Boland has been all over the India National Cricket Team batters in the ongoing match. The fast bowler has looked the most threatening Australia pacer in the ongoing match and has provided his team with time-to-time blows, putting the Jasprit Bumrah-led side under pressure.

Scott Boland drew the first blood for his team when he removed Yashasvi Jaiswal and then didn't look back. The fast bowler removed Virat Kohli as well and followed it up with two crucial wickets of Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy on two back-to-back balls.

Boland also has bowled 2000 deliveries in Test cricket, and this also saw him having an average in Test cricket. The fast bowler is the 14th best of all time with his average of 19.39.

Boland has been having a terrific series with the ball for the Australia National Cricket Team. He has filled in extremely well for Josh Hazlewood, who played just two games in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Boland so far has picked 15 wickets in the three games that he has played. With the kind of rhythm that has looked in the ongoing game, it's fair to say that he isn't far away from making another five-wicket haul for the Australia National Cricket Team in Tests.
