The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked two selectors of the Chetan Sharma-headed selection panel, Abey Kuruvilla and Debasis Mohanty to head to Sri Lanka with the Indian team for the white-ball tour of the island nation in July.

India is slated to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against Sri Lanka with all games slated to be played in the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo. The Indian team will feature many limited-overs stars and IPL performers, given that the main Indian team members are in England for the Test series and recently held the World Test Championship final.

Abey Kuruvilla And Debasis Mohanty Will Accompany Indian Team On Tour Of Sri Lanka

While earlier the travel of BCCI selectors was limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Board has now decided to resume the practice and has confirmed that Abey Kuruvilla and Debasis Mohanty, two selectors from the Chetan Sharma-led selection panel will travel to Sri Lanka with the Indian team.

“They are already in Mumbai and are quarantining with other members of the touring party,” a BCCI office-bearer has confirmed the development to Cricbuzz.

Rahul Dravid will travel with the side as head coach with an 18-member support staff accompanying the 25-member side. Sudhir Asnani of Indore, a former international panel umpire, will accompany the side as the manager. The team will leave for Sri Lanka on Monday (June 28). The first game of the six-match series starts on July 13.

The BCCI couldn’t send any selector on India’s tour of England where the Virat Kohli-led side recently lost the World Test Championship final to New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Given the limitations over travel to the UK from India, there is no assurance that any member of the selection committee will be in England for the five-Test series that starts on August 4.

Support Staff for Indian team on Sri Lanka tour:

Rahul Dravid (head coach); Sudheer Asnani (Manager), Paras Mhambrey (Bowling coach), T Dilip (Fielding coach); Ashish Kaushik (Physio), Niranjan Pandit (Physio), Anand Date (trainer), AI Harsha (Trainer), Ashok Sadh (Training assistant – throwdown specialist), Sourav Ambadkar (Throwdown specialist), Nandan Majhi (Masseur), Mangesh Gaikwad (Masseur), L Varun (Analyst), Anand Subramaniam (media manager), Ameya Tilak (Content producer), Abhijit Salvi (Team doctor), Ravindra Dholpure (Anti-corruption and security officer) and Sumeet Mallapurkar (Logistics manager).
