India National Cricket Team will be up against the New Zealand National Cricket Team for a five-match ODI series. After that, they will be playing a two-match Test series and thus have named two different squads for the 50-over format. Ahead of the first game, Prasidh Krishna, who has been ruled out of ODIs, is reportedly declared fit for the Test series.

The Men in Blue recently won the five-match T20I series against the Kiwis. They have yet to win the 50-over format in the last six years in New Zealand; the last time they won was back in 2018/19, when Virat Kohli was the captain. This is a huge test for Shubman Gill and his side as they look to challenge the Kiwis.

Prasidh Krishna declared fit for Test series

As per the report from Dainik Jagran’s senior journalist Abhishek Tripathi, Team India pacer Prasidh Krishna has been declared fit for the two-match Test series. The Karnataka-based pacer was ruled out of the five-match series, as the BCCI confirmed a few days back, as he needed more time to regain full fitness after suffering a hamstring injury.

The pacer is expected to fly to New Zealand and is also expected to be available for the final unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A. The first two unofficial games between the two sides have ended in a draw. Some game time for Krishna will help him get back to his best shape before the official Test series.

Who replaces Prasidh Krishna in the ODI squad?

Prasidh picked up a hamstring injury during the last home series against the West Indies. He was thus withdrawn from the series, keeping in mind this New Zealand series. Anshul Kamboj replaced the injured pacer in the home series and did decently after playing one game for the side.

In the ODI series against New Zealand, Auqib Nabi has replaced Krishna. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer was initially added only for the fourth and fifth ODIs and has been promoted to the squad. He did make his debut against the Windies side, but did not have the best of a time in his first ODI game.

Prasidh Krishna's ODI career

Prasidh Krishna has been decent in the ODIs, and at times has been expensive and has been criticised for not being consistent in the 50-over format. He needs to improve, as the side has backed him well despite him being poor at times in the ODIs and Test formats, in order to seal his place in the ODI World Cup 2027 team.

Krishna has taken 45 wickets in 25 ODIs at an average of 25.78 and an economy rate of 5.91. The average is a question for the bowler; this showcases his inconsistency in the format. Though he has his best figures of 4/12 against the West Indies in 2022.

The Men in Blue will play their opening ODI game on November 4th at Eden Park, Auckland. Before moving to Wellington for the second game of the five-match series. The two-match Test series is scheduled in Wellington and Christchurch.
