Shadab Khan has delivered an update on his foot injury. The Pakistan spinner suffered the unfortunate injury while he was plying his trade for Rawalpindi Region against Sialkot Region on December 3 in Pakistan’s National T20 Cup.
He sustained the injury while fielding, and the clip of the all-rounder leaving the field after the incident went viral. Instead of being stretchered off, he had to rely on one of his teammates to exit the field. Shadab Khan’s teammate carried him off the field piggyback style, much to the amusement of the fans.
He had to leave the field after bowling just a couple of overs and did not take further part in the game. In his two overs, the leg-spinner gave away just seven runs. The Pakistan star suffered the injury when he stepped on the ball. He was later seen sitting with an ice pack strapped to his left ankle.

Shadab Khan has now delivered an update on the injury. Recalling the incident, he told Express Tribune: “When the ball came above my foot, I had an ankle twist. When the ankle twisted, I couldn’t even comprehend it for 2-3 minutes because the pain was severe.
“Then I tried to walk to the sidelines. The boundary on the side was a bit short, so I walked out there, but after that, I didn’t have the courage to continue walking. Then there was a guy there, so I thought of somehow making it to the dressing room,” he added.

Speaking further, Shadab Khan mentioned that the injury is not major, and his condition is improving. However, he also revealed that the doctors could not provide a specific timeline for his full recovery. He added that rehabilitation will commence as soon as the doctors determine the necessary time frame.
“Now the fitness is improving. The injury is not too major. The report has come, but the doctors haven’t told me how much time it will take. As soon as they tell, the rehab will start according to their instructions,” said Shadab Khan.
“The injury doesn’t seem too prolonged. The physios will assess it and plan accordingly for the New Zealand series,” he added.
Shadab Khan was last seen in action for Pakistan during the ODI World Cup where he managed just 2 wickets in 6 games. He is likely to return to action when Pakistan travels to New Zealand for a five-match T20I series next month.
