Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Hafeez commended Shaheen Afridi, adding the youth possesses the required qualities to feel confident. In the Pakistan Super League’s 2022 edition, Hafeez played for the Lahore Qalandars under Afridi in PSL 2022 Season.
The Qalandars named Shaheen Afridi as team captain before the beginning of the league, replacing Sohail Akhtar, who had captained the team for a couple of years. Hafeez, who retired playing international cricket in early January, reckons Shaheen Afridi has the mental strength to succeed under strain.
“Certainly, conquering and becoming champion of such a league is just something spectacular and a wonderful start for him as a captain,” Hafeez said to reporters on Tuesday in Dhaka, when he went to compete for Mohammedan Sporting Club inside the current Dhaka Premier League.
Afridi, on the other hand, has played for Pakistan in a variety of forms and played in 36 international matches last year. Afridi currently competes in the Pakistan Super League and it will represent Middlesex in England next season. As a consequence, there are questions about just the workload of the fast bowler.
“I still consider he needs to worry about his health and the burden he is imposing on his physique since he is playing regularly.” And he analyzes this as well because he should not play the games, to just not mention the leagues and counties. After all, this will crush him completely. I wish him good luck,” he remarked.
Mohammad Hafeez applauds Shaheen Afridi:
“He is a rising player in international cricket who boasts strong leadership qualities.” As we saw in the last PSL season, and clearly as a teenager, he managed too many things correctly and ticked the majority of the boxes,” Hafeez described.
Lahore Qalandars have never even won the PSL well before the 2022 edition. They made it to the final in 2020 but were beaten by the Karachi Kings, who were being led by all-rounder Imad Wasim. Lahore Qalandars missed qualifying for the playoffs throughout the first four PSL seasons.
This year, Hafeez announced his retirement from international cricket. The all-rounder, who was vital in Qalandars’ historic PSL final victory.
