Former Pakistan cricketer Moin Khan backed Shaheen Afridi to be the vice-captain of Men in Green. He said that the fast bowler has shown aggressive and positive captaincy in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Lahore Qalandars and this will also prepare a leader for the future.

Shadab Khan’s place as a vice-captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team has come under scrutiny. The all-rounder of late has shown terrible form with both bat and ball and many reports have suggested that he’s likely to be sacked from his leadership role and along with that he could be dropped from the squad for the World Cup 2023.

Shadab Khan was taken to the cleaners with the ball in almost every game in the Asia Cup 2023. His worst performance came against India as Rohit Sharma smashed him all over the park and gave him the worst nightmare. Also with the bat, he failed terribly and questions have been raised about him.

Various media reports have also suggested that Shaheen Afridi is the front-runner to be the vice-captain of the Pakistan team. The left-arm pacer has shown sensational leadership skills in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He has guided Lahore Qalandars to two title wins in the tournament.

Moin Khan said that both Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi are gun players and give their everything for the team. However, the pacer should be the vice-captain as he has shown his potential as the leader in the PSL. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“Shaheen Afridi has led Lahore Qalandars to two PSL titles, which reflects his leadership potential and we cannot ignore that. PCB should keep an eye on both Shaheen and Shadab Khan. They are gun players and have a positive attitude towards the team.

“Whosoever gets the nod ahead as vice-captain of the team, I don’t think there should be any problem. As far as I’m concerned, I feel Shaheen should be the vice-captain. He has done aggressive and positive captaincy for Lahore Qalandars in PSL and we can get a good leader in future.”

He should definitely come back – Moin Khan On Mohammad Amir’s inclusion in Pakistan squad for ICC World Cup 2023

Mohammad Amir, who was the mainstay of Pakistan’s bowling lineup, retired from cricket in 2020 after some issues with the board. However, injury to Naseem Shah has raised many speculations about his comeback in the team. There have been several talks about the same and many reports have suggested that he might come back.

Moin Khan talked about the same and said that if there’s a need for Mohammad Amir then PCB should bring him back into the team. He added that if the governing body is planning to bring him into the team, then they should follow the process. He added:

“Amir is a current cricketer, he is playing leagues and performing well. If there is need for Amir and room for his comeback, he should definitely come back as he is a great cricketer and in the end a Pakistani. He shouldn’t replace someone who is already settled and deserving, Follow the process for his selection.”

Mohammad Amir is currently playing for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League. The pacer has displayed staggering performance in the league as he has bagged 15 wickets in eight games.
