Shahid Afridi lashes out at son-in-law Shaheen Afridi: India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match was once again a one-sided match for the Men in Blue as they extended their lead to 8-1 against their neighbouring countries in the T20 World Cup history. This 61-run win was the highest margin win for India in terms of runs against Pakistan in men's T20Is.

India, after being put into bat first, posted a good total of 176 runs for their fiercest rivals. Ishan Kishan, who scored a brilliant 77 off 40 deliveries, seemed like he was batting on a different wicket where the other batters later on struggled to score runs. He welcomed Shaheen Afridi with a six in the second over of the game.

After Pakistan’s horrific loss, former Pakistan captain and T20 World Cup winner Shahid Afridi shared his insights on Pakistan’s problems and wants young players to get selected, and he did not even favour his own son-in-law, Shaheen Afridi, and said to drop him as well.

While speaking on a Pakistan news channel, Shahid Afridi said, “If I had to make a decision, I would put Shaheen Afridi, Babar, and Shadab out of the game. I would like to give the new players a chance. I would give them confidence and an opportunity to play against Namibia.”

“We have been watching them play for a long time and expect them to perform well against this team. There are so many senior players — if they are not delivering as senior players, why not give the juniors a chance? What is the difference?”

Pakistan needs to win against Namibia

Pakistan was bowled out for 114 runs, with Usman Khan scoring the highest run of 44, and no other batters could go past the score of 30 runs. Their second-highest scorer was Shaheen Afridi, scoring 23 and remaining unbeaten till the end.

The Pakistan batters fell like a pack of cards, with four Indian bowlers, Hardik, Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel shared two wickets each among themselves. Kuldeep Yadav and Tilak Varma picked one wicket each. After this heavy loss, Pakistan has slid down to the third position in the table.

The Men in Green’s next and final match of the group stage is against Namibia, and it is now a must-win game for them in order to qualify for the Super 8s. In case Pakistan loses, they will be knocked out from the group stages in back to back edition of the T20 World Cup.
