Shahid Afridi goes crazy, slams Shaheen Afridi for good batting show vs India in Asia Cup

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team all-rounder Shahid Afridi seems to have lost his mind as he was seen slamming the premier pacer Shaheen Afridi for his brilliant batting performance against the India National Cricket Team.

The sixth match of the Asia Cup 2025 was played between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 14.

Shaheen Afridi shows explosive batting

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the high-profile match against India. The Men In Green showed an awful batting performance and looked absolutely clueless while facing the Indian bowlers.

No Pakistan batter looked in control against the Indian bowlers, and the spinners further choked the run-scoring from both ends. However, things changed when Shaheen Afridi arrived in the middle.

Afridi looked by far the best batter in the Pakistan innings, and he played an explosive knock of 33 runs off 16 balls, with four maximums, to power Pakistan to 127/9.

He smashed Kuldeep Yadav for a six on the second ball he faced and then hit Varun Chakravarthy for another six in the 18th over. Also, in the 20th over, Shaheen Afridi slammed back-to-back sixes against Hardik Pandya.

I don’t expect runs from Shaheen - Shahid Afridi

Shaheen Afridi's father-in-law, Shahid Afridi, was not at all impressed with the way he batted against the India National Cricket Team in the blockbuster clash.

Speaking on Samaa TV, Shahid Afridi said that he doesn't expect Shaheen Afridi to score runs; instead, he wanted the pacer to do some magic with the new ball, which he couldn't do against India.

"I don’t expect runs from Shaheen, I expect his bowling. He must know his role is to swing the new ball and play the mind games which he should have done yesterday against India," he said.

Shahid Afridi also lashed out at the Pakistan batters for being too aggressive from the very start and slammed the management for benching Haris Rauf.

“These batsmen have to score runs to win matches. Saim Ayub should keep his mind cool, tell him to keep his mind cool. Look at the condition, look at the pitch, play the first ball. You are trying to become Shahid Afridi from the first ball.”

“The genuine fast bowlers have been given rest. This half-hearted attack will not work against India. At the moment, there is not a single batsman in this team who can bring victory,” Afridi added.

He has neither swing nor pace - Kris Srikkanth

Shaheen Afridi went wicketless in the two overs that he bowled against India and was brutally trolled by the former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth. In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Srikkanth suggested Shaheen Afridi to take up the full-time batting role because he is awful with the ball. He said:

"He has neither swing nor pace. He might be better off becoming a batter. He's actually batting better than the other Pakistan batters. I still don't know how they made the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Abhishek Sharma is playing Shaheen Shah Afridi like tennis ball cricket. He's hitting sixes for fun against him like you would do in a tennis ball game. Indians reduced Shaheen Afridi to a nothing bowler."
