Akhtar, in his autobiography ‘Controversially your’, had opened up about the incident.

In his book, the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ wrote that it was Shahid Afridi who aggravated the matter between him and Mohammad Asif.

Akhtar revealed that in a heat of the moment, he swung a cricket bat on both Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Asif and while the former ducked, Asif couldn’t and, as a result, he was struck on his thighs.

“Afridi was aggravating the situation and I swung the bat at both of them. Afridi ducked, but Asif couldn’t get out of the way, the bat struck him on his thighs and he collapsed. I had lost it. I had never behaved like this, especially in the dressing room,” wrote Shoaib Akhtar.

Now, Shahid Afridi has opened up the infamous incident.

During an interview with Samaa TV, Shahid Afridi revealed that Mohammad Asif had shared a joke with him which, according to him, enraged Shoaib Akhtar.

”Things happen,” Shahid Afridi told Samaa.tv. “Asif had sided with me in a joke which enraged Shoaib and all this happened. But Shoaib has a very beautiful heart.” he added.
