Shahrukh Khan Bought By Gujarat Titans For 7.40 Crores In IPL Auction 2024

Gujarat Titans, on Tuesday (December 19) signed up Shahrukh Khan in the ongoing IPL auction 2024. The right-handed batsman had registered himself in the auction for a base price of Rs 40 lakh and caused a bidding war between the Titans and his former team Punjab Kings.
Punjab tried their best to get their player back but Gujarat Titans were in no mood to give up. It led to a fierce bidding process before the 2022 IPL champions secured Shahrukh Khan’s services for Rs 7.40 crores. With Hardik Pandya traded to Mumbai Indians, the Titans were in search of a quality big-hitter and would be hoping that Shahrukh Khan would live up to the expectations in IPL 2024.
Earlier, Punjab Kings released a number of eyebrows by releasing Shahrukh Khan ahead of the auction. The Tamil Nadu star earned his maiden IPL contract in 2021 from the Punjab-based outfit after impressing in the domestic circuit with his big-hitting abilities.
In his maiden IPL season, he played 11 games and scored 153 runs at a strike rate of over 130. In the 2022 mega auction, Punjab Kings once again outbid other franchises to secure Shahrukh Khan’s services. The right-handed batsman had a poor outing in 2022 as he managed to score only 117 runs in 8 games at a strike rate of 108. In 2023, he improved his performance and scored 156 runs at a strike rate of almost 166 but was still released.
