Bangladesh National Cricket Team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has come under a scanner amid the ongoing first Test against the India National Cricket Team. The first match of the two-match Test series between the teams has seen three days being played so far.

Bangladesh are well and truly behind the game, and their chances to win the game are very low. One of the major reasons behind that has been the poor performances of their premier all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, who became the team's most capped Test player.

Shakib hasn't bowled much in the game, and this has raised a lot of speculation. The all-rounder came into attack very late in the first innings and, after that, bowled seven overs on the third day. Not only this, but he also wasn't up to the mark with the ball.

Shakib was taken to cleaners by Rishabh Pant as the keeper-batter hit him for six fours and two sixes. He finished with the most expensive match figures of his Test career. It was also only the fifth time that he had gone wicketless in a Test after bowling at least 20 overs.

With Shakib bowling less and poorly, Murali Kartik, on-air, mentioned that the all-rounder informed him about discomfort in his spinning finger and shoulder. Elaborating on the same, the former India spinner stated (as quoted by ESPNCricinfo):

"Having seen him and known him for such a long period of time, I did go up to him and ask the reason why he has not bowled enough. And the thing which he said to me is something I completely resonate with. He's had a finger surgery on his bowling finger which is the point of his finger of his left hand.

"It is swollen, it is rigid, there's no movement no suppleness to it. So he feels he is not getting any feeling out of it. As a spinner, you need the feeling. Also, he is having issues with his shoulder, so it's a combination of both and it's tough to bowl in Test cricket where you need that feel as a spinner."

Shakib Al Hasan notably suffered a finger injury during the ICC World Cup 2023. In the same tournament, he faced a shoulder injury, and after that, he missed a lot of action for the team.

Shakib Al Hasan though hasn't recently complained about a finger or shoulder injury - BCB chief physician Dr Debashish

BCB chief physician Dr Debashish, however, played down the talks of Shakib Al Hasan having injury concerns. He said that the all-rounder hasn't complained about a finger or shoulder injury. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, he explained:

"Shakib had a fracture in his finger from the World Cup in India. Before that, he had an infection from another finger injury a few years ago. Shakib, though, hasn't recently complained about a finger or shoulder injury. A broken finger, however, can cause discomfort."

Shakib Al Hasan was the top run scorer for his team in the first innings, as he scored 32 runs off 64 balls before getting out to an untimely reverse sweep. He is currently batting at 5 runs off 14 balls in the second innings and would be keen to make a big impact.
