Former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan will be playing for the Legends of Rupganj in the remaining phase of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL) to prepare for the upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka. The Tigers are set to play in a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka between May 15-27.

The Chairman of the club Lutfur Rahman Badal has confirmed the development to Cricbuzz. Shakib had initially signed up for the Mohammedan Sporting Club. But after the club failed to reach the Super Six stage, Shakib managed a clearance to play for the Legends in the remaining DPL season.

“He will be available from our next game. It is not due to our league standing (that I am picking him) but the relationship I have with him and he wanted to play (to get some match practice) as he has some (international) matches lined up,” Badal said.

The past few months was tough for the premier Bangladesh all-rounder. He has not played any cricket since the ODI series against South Africa. He was also forced to return home early due to a family emergency. Shakib Al Hasan will be participating in the preparation camp that starts from May 8.
