West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph shattered the stumps of Australia’s all-rounder Cameron Green during the final innings of the ongoing second Test match. Shamar Joseph ended the long-standing partnership, bringing the West Indies team back into the match.

The home team resumed the fourth day of the pink-ball Gabba Test with a score of 60/2. Steve Smith (33*) came to the bat alongside Green (9*), requiring 156 more runs for victory. The duo added a crucial partnership for the third wicket in the fourth innings of the match.

Watch – Shamar Joseph Rattles Cameron Green’s Stumps

Shamar Joseph was absent from his team’s bowling spell on Saturday due to a foot injury sustained by a Mitchell Starc yorker. The right-arm pacer returned to the bowling attack when Steven Smith and Green were building a strong partnership during the run chase.

Joseph provided a breakthrough in just his second over of the day in the match. The young pacer delivered a brilliant delivery, which moved sharply into Cameron Green, who failed to cover the line in time. The delivery hit his back elbow before clipping the top of the off-stump.

Cameron Green was dismissed after scoring 42 runs in 73 deliveries, including four boundaries. He failed to convert his start into a big score in the thrilling encounter. Notably, he registered low scores in the first two innings of the ongoing series at his new No. 4 position.

Australia scored 187/8 at the end of the first session, with Steve Smith (76) and Nathan Lyon (2) unbeaten at the crease. Shamar Joseph picked up all six wickets in the opening session. The Aussies needed 29 runs to whitewash the Windies in the two-match Test series.

Cameron Green Could Be The Next Jacques Kallis – Nathan Lyon

Nathan Lyon expressed confidence in Cameron Green, stating that the young cricketer could become Australia’s next superstar. The off-spinner suggested that Green has the potential to emulate Jacques Kallis and make significant contributions to Australian cricket.

“There is so much confidence in that change room around all the guys and not just Smithy batting at No.1 and Cameron at number four. I have had the challenge of bowling to Greeny in Shield cricket with him batting at No.4 and he has given me a lot of headaches,” Lyon said.

“I actually enjoy seeing him bat at number four and I feel like he could be the next Jacques Kallis of international cricket at number four,” he added.

Cameron Green made his international debut against India in 2020. The all-rounder was dropped from the playing XI during the 2023 Ashes series. The 24-year-old has shifted to the No. 4 position in the lineup following Steve Smith’s move to the top of the order.

Jacques Kallis is widely regarded as one of the premier all-rounders in cricket. The South African cricketer scored over 25,000 international runs and secured over 500 wickets in his illustrious career. Kallis retired from all formats of international cricket in 2014.
