Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) were left fuming after the No.1 ranked bowler in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings, Ravi Bishnoi, was left out of the playing XI in the second T20I against South Africa National Cricket Team.

The second T20I of the three-match series between the Suryakumar Yadav-led India National Cricket Team and the Aiden Markram-led South Africa National Cricket Team is currently underway at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Tuesday, December 12.

The series opener between the teams was washed out as the rain played spoilsport. Now, the Men In Blue and the Proteas only have a handful of matches before nailing down their combination for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.

Meanwhile, India made a lot of changes to their playing XI for the second T20I against the Proteas. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was sick, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, and Avesh Khan were left out and they were replaced by Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj.

The non-selection of Ravi Bishnoi came as a surprise for many as he recently delivered an absolutely exceptional performance for India in the home series against Australia National Cricket Team. He even bagged a Player of the Series award and climbed to the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings.

The 23-year-old leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was terrific with the ball throughout the T20I series against Australia and finished as the leading wicket-taker.

He was very impactful in the powerplay overs in the series as he bowled 7 overs in this phase and picked up 5 wickets while conceding 45 runs. Overall, Bishnoi bagged 9 wickets at an average of 18.22 and an economy of 8.20 in the five-match T20I series against Australia.

Here’s How X (Twitter) Reacted To India Dropping Ravi Bishnoi From The Playing XI In The 2nd T20I:
