It has not taken long for Gautam Gambhir to realize that coaching a team in international cricket is not a cakewalk. Expectations were sky-high from the former India opener when he replaced Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian team.
He took charge of the team after guiding Kolkata Knight Riders to a third IPL title and first since he led them to their second title way back in 2014. However, his journey as the head coach so far has been nothing less than a rollercoaster ride.
In his maiden assignment as the head coach, the Indian team lost an ODI series against Sri Lanka for the first time since 1997. The Indian team bounced back with a clinical performance in the Test and T20I series against Bangladesh at home. They blanked the tourists in both the Tests and the three T20Is.
The dominating display against Bangladesh was followed by a horror show in the recently concluded three-match Test series against New Zealand. The Black Caps whitewashed India to register their first-ever Test series win on Indian soil.
They also became the first-ever team to whitewash India in their own backyard in a Test series with more than two Tests. The humiliating loss ended India's long unbeaten run at home in Tests. Before the loss against New Zealand, India had not lost a Test series at home since the defeat against England in the 2012/13 season.
Shane Warne's tweet for Gautam Gambhir goes viral:
With India suffering a dismal series loss against New Zealand, Gautam Gambhir is facing severe criticism from all around. Not only the fans but several former cricketers including former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar have targeted Gautam Gambhir too.

Amidst all these, an old tweet from the legendary Shane Warne has gone viral. In his tweet that was posted way back in 2013, the former Australia spinner took a dig at Gautam Gambhir, writing: "Question cricket followers - is Ghambir in the top 3 annoying cricketers on the planet ???"

Several fans have shared the tweet from Warne while criticizing Gambhir for India's poor display against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Gambhir will be hoping that India bounce back in the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia. India won the last two Test series in Australia and will be fancying their chances of winning three Test series in a row.
