Shane Watson to turn down PCB's mega offer? Massive update arrives from Watson's camp

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is seriously considering accepting the offer made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take over as their national team’s head coach. However, Watson will only look after the team’s white-ball assignments with the apex Pakistani board also on the lookout for a new head coach of the Test team.
It was revealed yesterday that Shane Watson is being offered a lucrative amount of 4.2 Crores of Pakistani Rupees which the Aussie is now willing to accept. At first, he was reluctant to join as the National team head coach. That was due to the fluctuation within PCB’s hierarchy which sees them change their chiefs now and then.
The PCB welcomed its new chief Mohsin Naqvi only a few weeks ago after dismissing Zaka Ashraf and his associated entourage. That axe also saw former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez lose his role as the team director after overlooking the national team’s underwhelming performances in Australia and New Zealand. The Green Army were whitewashed 3-0 in a Test series down under whereas they endured another 4-1 series loss in a T20I series against the Kiwis.
Shane Watson to only look after the proceedings of ODI and T20Is
A major problem that is arising for the PCB in hiring Shane Watson as the head coach is that he is only willing to take over as a white ball head coach. That means, Watson will only be available when Pakistan plays an ODI or T20I series, home or away and that alone will see the Australian pocket over 2 Million dollars per month.
This particular thing (Shane Watson only coaching the whiteball team) could be one of the few demands that Watson would have made to the PCB during negotiations. It was revealed yesterday that the board has accepted all of his conditions and wants him to join as soon as possible.
Shockingly, PCB has no issues in giving that much money to Watson, only for him to look over the whiteball team. If that happens, they will have to initiate their search again for a Test team coach but the question is, will they offer something as tempting as the offer they made to Watson?
The 3rd and most important issue behind hiring Watson is that the Aussie cannot be there in Pakistan with the players for an entire year. The reason for that is unknown but it could be due to his family over there in Australia. He will only be there in the country when the national team plays a home white ball series or when there’s a national camp in place. He will also take part in tours.
Shane Watson waiting for a written offer
Shane Watson, who is currently serving as the head coach for PSL outfit Quetta Gladiators, is currently awaiting a written offer from the PCB. He will be accepting the job once the board puts forward an official offer on paper and he will start preparing for Pakistan’s upcoming assignments, including the T20 World Cup in June, right after.
