Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has embarked on an exciting new journey days after announcing his retirement from international cricket, as he joined the Legends League Cricket (LLC).

After joining the Legends League Cricket (LLC), the left-handed batter Shikhar Dhawan said that cricket is an inseparable part of him, and he is really excited to start his new innings and create new memories in the tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan was quoted as saying by LLC: “Taking on this new chapter with Legends League Cricket feels like the ideal progression after my retirement. My body is still conditioned for the demands of the game, and while I'm at ease with my decision, cricket is an inseparable part of who I am, it will never go out of me. I'm eager to regroup with my cricketing friends and continue to entertain my fans as we create new memories together.”

Meanwhile, Raman Raheja, co-founder of the LLC, warmly welcomed Dhawan to the league. He further emphasized his experience and style would significantly boost the competition and provide great entertainment for fans.

The LLC co-founder also said that having Dhawan join the league would strengthen its reputation as the premier platform for legendary cricketers after retirement.

Raman Raheja said in a statement, “We are thrilled to have Shikhar Dhawan join us. His experience and flair will undoubtedly enhance the competition and entertain fans. We look forward to seeing him in action alongside other cricket legends. This will further enhance our position as the 2nd innings for legendary cricketers.”

The next season of the LLC is scheduled to kick off in September 2024, bringing together a roster of retired legends like Dhawan, Aaron Finch, Hashim Amla, Robin Uthappa, and Harbhajan Singh.

Meanwhile, Absolute Legends Sports, the organization behind the LLC, has secured INR 39 crore in funding from Brickwork. This recent investment has boosted the league's valuation to INR 350 crore, according to Raheja. The next edition of the league is set to be held between September 11 and October 5, with the matches conducted in India and Qatar.

LLC raises huge funds ahead of the next season

The new funds will be used to support growth and expansion initiatives for the LLC. Founded in 2021 by Raheja and Vivek Khushalani, the league features six teams: the India Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Bhilwara Kings, Manipal Tigers, Urban Risers Hyderabad, and Southern Superstars.

It is also being said that the league has also attracted investment from prominent figures such as Vikram Singhania, Jayant Davar, Sanjay Gupta, and Arvind Singhania. It is being said that the LLC achieved an amazing 1.56 billion viewers worldwide last year.
