Shikhar Dhawan, one of the finest white-ball openers in Team India, is ready to embrace a new chapter after announcing his retirement from international and domestic cricket. Shikhar Dhawan has opened up about taking up a commentary role as part of new ventures after he decides to retire.
Dhawan played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is in his international career. The left-handed batter scored over 10,000 runs with 24 centuries and 55 half-centuries across three formats.
Dhawan announced his retirement with an emotional video on social media handles on Saturday, August 24.
He made his international debut for India in an ODI match in 2010. The veteran batter made his T20I debut in 2011 against the West Indies.
He played his first Test match against Australia in 2013. Dhawan played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2024 and won the title with SRH in 2016.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Shikhar Dhawan said that he is exploring new and bigger opportunities post-retirement. Dhawan acknowledged that commentary is a potential option due to his expertise but added that he wants to try and do something new and bigger.
"Woh bhi hai... but I am already making a good return through my ventures but…Of course, the option to do commentary, etc., is always there for me because of my expertise. But I want to try and do something new and bigger. I want to jump high, and I am not afraid of falling," Dhawan told Hindustan Times.
Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most entertaining cricketers both on and off the field. The 38-year-old was a crucial player for India, particularly in limited-overs formats.
He earned the “Mr. ICC” title after helping the Men in Blue, led by legendary MS Dhoni, to the trophy in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
I Would Love For Akshay Kumar To Do It - Shikhar Dhawan
Biopics on Indian cricketers have become a trend, with the latest one on Yuvraj Singh announced recently. Shikhar Dhawan said that he is open to participating in a biopic about his life if it is well-made. He would also be excited to see Akshay Kumar or Ranveer Singh cast in the role in the biopic.
"I would love it, only if it is made well. As for me acting in it, I would happily do it in case I added any value to the film. As for other actors, I would love for Akshay paaji (Akshay Kumar) to do it, or even Ranveer Singh, for the sheer energy he has," Dhawan added.
He was the first batsman to score back-to-back centuries in the Indian Premier League. The batter also holds the record for the most fours in the history of the tournament. Dhawan captained both Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.
