The former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has strongly opined that the great Sachin Tendulkar shouldn’t be compared with the current generation’s best batsmen Virat Kohli. Sachin holds almost every record in the book and more than that he was a masterclass while batting.

Virat Kohli has been bettering the records held by Sachin and is likely to end up as the all-time best batsman with the numbers favouring him already. Shoaib Akhtar wasn’t happy with the two players being compared from different eras and the World’s fastest bowler, as usual, was critical about his views on that.

Shoaib Akhtar Wants ICC To Lift The Restrictions To See The Real Characters

Akhtar mentioned that it is very rare to see bowlers who can bowl above 150 mph consistently and expressed his displeasure over ICC taking the game towards favouring the batsman. In a way, it also increases the average team totals and Akthar questioned the ICC if this is all meant to increase the TRP. He added that the only way to make the real test for the batsmen is to bring back the old restrictions.

“How many fast bowlers in the world have you seen who can bowl 150 kmph, and how many people are allowed to play this game according to the old wishes. The ICC has put a lot of restrictions, and what do you want?

“You want TRP, you will get it. But if you got to see the characters, you need to lift the restrictions,” Shoaib Akhtar told.

Shoaib Akhtar Highlights The Difficulties In Sachin’s Era

Akhtar notified that there has been an embargo going on cricket which needs to be lifted which is the comparison of Kohli to Sachin. He referred to the Sachin’era as the single era of 50 overs and revealed the reverse swing that would take place with just one new ball for both ends.

He added that facing Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shane Warne would be a nightmare for the batsmen with the old ball getting softer.

“There’s an embargo on cricket. How can there be three circles in the field? I mean…give Sachin Tendulkar credit and stop comparing him to Virat Kohli.

“He did not play the era of Sachin Tendulkar, which is like the single era of 50 overs, and then the reverse swing starts literally after 10 overs. Face that with Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and the spin of Shane Warne,”  Shoaib Akhtar highlighted.
