Shoaib Akhtar, a former Pakistan bowler, has answered Virender Sehwag’s recent remarks regarding him. The former India opener recently raised a few eyebrows when he claimed Akhtar used to ‘chuck.’

Furthermore, Sehwag alleged that the fast pacer was aware that he used to jerk his elbow.

Akhtar’s conduct sparked debate during his career, and he was also sanctioned by the International Cricket Council. Akhtar was banned for a month in 1999 for ‘throwing’ and had to change his behavior.

However, his misery did not end there. He was suspended for the second time for unlawful bowling action a few years later, in 2001. However, Akhtar overcame all of his challenges and continued to play for Pakistan until 2011. When it comes to Sehwag’s recent comments, the batting legend once again blamed Akhtar’s bowling action.

“Shoaib recalls jerking his elbow and chucking. Otherwise, why would the ICC (International Cricket Council) prohibit him from playing cricket? It was simple to pick the ball because Brett Lee’s hand was clean. But you never know where the hand and the ball might emerge from with Shoaib (Akhtar),” Sehwag said on Sports18’s Home of Heroes.

‘I don’t criticize him for making these kinds of remarks’: Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar was questioned about Sehwag’s comments a few days later, and the Pakistan legend answered. Akhtar began his interview with Sportskeeda by offering Sehwag some advice. Akhtar also joked that Sehwag may know more than ICC.

“I’d like him to refrain from discussing these matters.” If Sehwag understands more about the ICC or its laws, then I’ll accept his opinion. Shoaib Akhtar stated, “That is his opinion, and I can’t say anything about it.”

“My response to Sehwag would have been a little separate than his response to me.” Virender Sehwag is, in my opinion, one of the best players in the world. I always thought he was a match-winner and a superb team player whenever he performed for India.”

“He is among the best openers in the game. I’m at a point in my life when I have to be very mindful about what I say. I didn’t watch his interview. I’m not sure if he was kidding or serious when he said that. He is a close personal buddy of mine. I don’t blame him for making these kinds of remarks, I wish him the best of luck,” he continued.

Akhtar played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is for Pakistan, taking over 400 wickets in all. He also owns the record for the fastest cricket delivery ever.
