Varun Chakravarthy returns with the figures of 3/23 in the first T20I against England

One of the major reasons behind the win of the India National Cricket Team was spinner Varun Chakravarthy. The mystery spinner broke the backbone of the England National Cricket Team and made sure that he helped his team end the opposition innings on a low total.

Chakravarthy, who came into the attack in the power play, didn't take long to make an impact with the ball. He struck in his second over and removed both Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone to bring his team back in the game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Varun Chakravarthy then went on to remove Jos Buttler as well and ended up taking three wickets. The India National Cricket Team spinner returned with the figures of 3/23 in the first T20I. Based on his impressive effort with the ball, he helped India bundle out England for just 132 runs.

I’m still 7 on 10, still more work to do - Varun Chakravarthy

While talking about his performance with the ball, Chakravarthy said that he was used to this pitch because of the IPL. He talked about his plans early and while speaking after the game, the India National Cricket Team spinner said:

"I’m still 7 on 10, still more work to do. I am used to seeing such pitches in the IPL. I know that it is for the seamers, but I know there are certain lengths that are helpful for me. What I realised was I can't beat batsmen with a side spin. The only way I can beat the batsmen is through bounce."

To bowl to batsmen like Jos and other guys is challenging - Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy said that he wanted to keep the ball away from the batter's arc. He talked about his plan to Jos Buttler and admitted that the last over was challenging, but he is thankful to God that he was successful. He added:

“I am trying to keep it away from their arc, it was holding a bit. Every over, bowling in Eden is challenging. To bowl to batsmen like Jos and other guys is definitely challenging. The last over was very tricky and challenging, but by God's grace, I was successful.”

He would be keen to carry on his performance in his second game and help the team win. The next game will be played on Saturday (25th January).
