Shreyas Iyer hits a HISTORIC LOW as captain in IPL 2026

Shreyas Iyer is considered one of the most celebrated captains in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Because of his impact as a leader, cricket experts often compare him with the greats like Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, who are considered the most successful leaders in the league.

Last night, the Punjab Kings suffered their first defeat in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. With that defeat, Shreyas Iyer has attached an annoying record to his name. As per the records, it was the fifth instance when a team, under the leadership of Iyer, failed to defend a total over 200.

Talking about last night’s match, which was held at the home ground of PBKS at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium, Punjab Kings scored 222 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs against the Rajasthan Royals. Until the death overs of the second innings, the contest between the two teams was neck to neck.
