Shreyas Iyer ripped apart by EX-Pakistan cricketer for his failure in Ranji Trophy 2024-25

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team player Basit Ali has lashed out at the India National Cricket Team batter Shreyas Iyer for his failure in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game against Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that the batter needs to play just the white-ball cricket if he doesn't realize the need of the situation.

Mumbai had a poor outing with the bat in the ongoing game against the Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

The team, which was filled by superstars Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer and others, got all out for just 120 runs.

Shreyas Iyer, in particular, came to notice of the Basit Ali. The Mumbai batter couldn't get going as he managed just just 11 runs off seven balls. He was looking to attack despite the wickets falling at the other end as he attempted to hit boundaries.

Shreyas Iyer batted with the strike rate of strike rate of 157.14, slamming one four and a six before getting out. Mumbai was at 42 runs for six, and then the wicket of the batter left them tottering at 47/7. Thankfully, Shardul Thakur slammed a half-century and took the team to a total of 120 runs.

If red-ball cricket is happening play it like red-ball cricket, this is my simple advice - Basit Ali

Basit Ali lashed out at Shreyas Iyer for playing attacking cricket, saying that batters got out in front of him, and he attacked, which wasn't right. He said that he should play red-ball cricket like red-ball. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

"Iyer made 11 runs from 7 balls. It is a four-day game. Three batters were dismissed in front of you. Play white-ball cricket in that format itself. If red-ball cricket is happening play it like red-ball cricket. This is my simple advice. We will see what they do in the second innings."

Basit Ali talked about the poor performances of the India National Cricket Team batters in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He said that it is a cause of concern that players of the team are not scoring runs. He elaborated:

"Rohit Sharma got out, Jaiswal got out, Gill got out, Iyer got out. It is a four-day cricket. When so many players are playing, Iyer has to score a hundred, Rohit has to score a hundred, Jaiswal, Gill, even Pujara is playing, will everyone score?"

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Rohit Sharma struggled to get going. He slammed three runs off 19 balls, while Jaiswal scored just four runs off eight deliveries. Shubman Gill managed to score just four runs for Punjab while Rishabh Pant, playing for Delhi, managed just one run.
