Shreyas Iyer unworthy of India captaincy? Chandrakant Pandit delivers a blunt verdict

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Chandrakant Pandit heaped praise on skipper Shreyas Iyer for his leadership after the team won the title in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Chandrakant Pandit stated that Shreyas Iyer has the qualities to become a future captain of the Indian cricket team.

The Kolkata Knight Riders hammered SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 26. Shreyas Iyer helped the Knight Riders secure the title after a decade. They previously won the trophy in the 2012 and 2014 seasons under Gautam Gambhir's leadership.

The Knight Riders bowled out SunRisers Hyderabad for just 113 runs in the summit clash. Venkatesh Iyer scored an unbeaten half-century, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz added 39 runs as KKR chased the target in just 10.3 overs. Shreyas Iyer became the fifth Indian captain to win the trophy in the prestigious tournament.

Would Give A Lot Of Credit To Shreyas Iyer - Chandrakant Pandit

Chandrakant Pandit stated that Shreyas Iyer deserves a lot of credit for KKR's success in the IPL 2024. Pandit highlighted Iyer's calm demeanor and receptiveness to suggestions, describing him as a fantastic captain.

"I would give a lot of credit to Shreyas. He’s been a fantastic captain, very calm and cool. He was receptive to our suggestions and handled the team well on and off the field. With KKR, he showed the qualities which make him worthy for India captaincy in the future."
