India National Cricket Team captain Shubman Gill has brushed aside the T20I series defeat against the England National Cricket Team and is eyeing a fresh start in the three-match ODI series.
Shubman Gill made his remarks while attending the pre-match press conference ahead of the series opener, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, 14th July at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham.

Shubman Gill explained that the outcome of the T20I series would have no impact on the upcoming ODI series and also stated that ODI cricket is a different format with a different atmosphere, adding that the team was fully aware of its objectives and would approach the series with a fresh mindset.
Speaking to the media, he said, "I don’t think there will be any impact of the T20 series on this one. This is a different format and the team knows what it has to achieve. Different format, different atmosphere."
India was whitewashed by England in T20Is
India has struggled with poor form in recent times, as they lost back-to-back T20I series against Ireland and England respectively for the first time since 2018/19.
They were completely outplayed in both series as they lost 2-0 to Ireland and 4-0 to England, which brought in several criticisms towards Shreyas Iyer, the captain, and also the management for poor decision-making.
Shreyas Iyer's captaincy did not have the best of starts as he has been winless in his first seven games as captain. He will be next seen as the vice-captain and helping Gill in the ODI series.

Apart from that, Shubman Gill also congratulated the India Women's National Cricket Team, who won their first Test at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground, London, beating the England Women's National Cricket Team by 270 runs on Monday. He stated that winning a Test at Lord's is always special and important, and it is a massive moment for Harmanpreet Kaur's side.
Gill said, "Huge congratulations to the women's team for the win at the Lord's. We know how important it is to win at the Lord's and it is a massive moment for the team."

Earlier, Gill reached England and started his practice session alongside the other ODI members also had a net session last Saturday on the day when India were playing against England in the fifth T20I match.
He has been in good form as he amassed 238 runs in three ODIs at an average of 238.00 and a strike rate of 135.23, which included one magnificent century.
Gill was seen having an intense and long chat with former India captain Virat Kohli after the net session; however, the conversation was not known. Today, during the press conference, he also revealed the conversation with Kohli last weekend. He stated that they were discussing the possible combination in South Africa during the ODI World Cup 2027.
