Shubman Gill was looking in good touch to end his extended poor form in the T20I cricket but yet again failed to convert his good starts into a big score in the ongoing fourth T20I match between India and Australia at the Carrara Oval in Queensland on Thursday (November 6).
Nathan Ellis delivered a brilliant slower ball that completely deceived Shubman Gill. Gill walked back after scoring 46 runs off 39 balls, including four fours and a six, against Australia.

Despite the mixed outings in the format, the right-handed batter is currently the second leading run scorer in the ongoing five-match T20I series in Australia.
India’s ODI and Test captain scored 103 runs in four innings at an average of 34.33 and strike rate of 127.16 in the ongoing T20I series against Australia. Notably, Gill was recalled to India’s T20I setup after more than one year and even he was named the vice-captain.
But since his elevation to the leadership, the Punjab lad has been struggling to deliver consistent performances in the format. Even in his maiden ODI series as captain, Gill has managed only 43 runs in three matches last month in Australia.

The Australian bowlers tightened their grip in the middle overs, forcing India to rebuild rather than dominate. The second half of the innings saw India lose wickets in quick succession, slowing down their scoring rate. But just when it seemed India might fall short of a competitive total, Axar Patel came to the rescue.
Axar’s unbeaten 21 off just 11 balls provided the much-needed late boost and attacking intent helped India cross the 160 mark against Australia in the ongoing fourth T20I in Queensland. Australia began their chase in style in the fourth T20I against India.
Chasing a target of 168, the Kangaroos got a flying start from captain Mitchell Marsh and Matt Short. After the Australian openers’ dismissal, Australia’s middle order crumbled as India now needs two wickets to win the fourth game to take a lead in the T20I series.
