Thakur revealed the USP of Shubman Gill, as Gill is a serious guy. Gill is a very calm and composed type of player and has proved himself on the biggest stage.

Thakur also told the USP of Rishabh Pant, as Pant is a funny and lively type of person. Fans have also witnessed Pant’s sense of humor in the Test matches through the stump mic.

Thakur also praised both players as they are the most promising players for the Indian team.

"They both are big players and the future of India for sure. They are very different in character – Shubman is a very serious & calm, composed kind of person when it comes to the game & Rishabh is a funny and lively guy but this again is their USP in their own way."

"They have contributed towards the game on the biggest stages and crucial ones, and that makes them very promising players for the future of India". Shardul Thakur stated in an interview with Boria Majumdar.

Shardul Thakur in the absence of Kohli and Rohit

According to Shardul Thakur, the experience of Kohli and Rohit will be missed on the England tour as they will not play Test cricket anymore.

Thakur thinks it’s a great deal of protection when the senior players are around. The mix of senior and junior players might improve the results of the Indian team.

Two young players have the responsibility on their shoulders, but they have the backing of some experienced players like Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul.

Shardul Thakur’s comeback in Test cricket

Shardul earned his ‘Lord' in the Border-Gavaskar trophy in 2021 as he contributed to the team’s success with his all-around abilities.

But after some poor performances, Thakur was dropped from the side and he had not confirmed a place in the home Test matches, and in the away Test matches, Shardul’s performance was dipping down.

Thakur played his last Test match against South Africa in 2023. After that, Shardul wasn’t picked for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024-25.

Thakur made a return in domestic cricket and gave consistent performances in the last season. He helped Mumbai in domestic cricket in every format, and his valiant efforts rewarded him with a call-up from the Indian selectors.

Shardul was selected in the India A squad for the England tour, and then he was also selected in the Indian team for the same England tour. India has only two fast bowlers and an all-rounder, named Shardul and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
