Shubman Gill sustains a couple of poor outings in Sri Lanka
While Shubman Gill performed well across the nations, he had barely any experience playing Sri Lanka. In the first Test match in Galle, when he was dismissed cheaply in both of the innings, his inexperience in the Island nation reflected. In Galle, he scored only 16 runs and 8 runs in the first and second innings. Gill's poor batting did not prevent the Indian cricket team from claiming the win.
The first Test brought some valuable experience for Shubman Gill, which he executed well in the second innings, which was in Colombo. The Island nation is known for it spin friendly surfaces. Whether it was Galle or Colombo, spinners got assistance from the surfaces. In the first innings of the second match against Sri Lanka, Gill returned after securing a half-century.

According to the stats, Gill has a batting average of 75.93 as the No.4 batter in the longest format of the game with a minimumof onee thousand runs in his tally. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is second in the list with a 66.00 batting average, with West Indies great Garry Sobers third in the list witha 63.75 batting average.

India will next face New Zealand in Tests
