Indian Batter Shubman Gill made headlines on his County Championship Debut. The batter looked in sublime touch for his county team Glamorgan and it looks like the batter is making the most of his county stint. We all know that scoring runs have never been easy for any batter in the World as the conditions and pitches are often tougher for batters.
The batter in his knock never looked out of touch and was quite focused in his 92-run knock in 148 balls which included 9 fours and 1 six. Glamorgan Management would be pleased and would give him another chance. The batter is often named the next big thing in International Cricket as he has the technique to succeed in the International Arena.
Shubman Gill on his County Experience
Indian Cricket Team’s opening batter Shubman Gill was seen talking with ESPNCricinfo. ” It was a great experience for me to come here and play county cricket and spend some time in the middle so it was a good outing for me today,” Indian batter said.
“The conditions are different to back home, especially with the rain – you stop, you start again, you stop, you start again, which is challenging when you are in the zone. It is also part of the experience when you play in the UK,” he added
” They bowled some decent spells, hit some good areas. We should be able to give them good competition in terms of saving the match. Out first target is to get over 250and a batting bonus point, once we are over that even if we follow on, I think we could save the match”.
“It is obviously disappointing to get out, it does not matter if it rains after that or not. And I was quite disappointed, especially to be out on 92, but I was pretty satisfied with my own performance because I wanted to spend some time out in the middle and I got that. Hopefully, when I bat next for Glamorgan I will be familiar with the conditions,” Shubman Gill concluded.
Shubman Gill on a Roll
The right-handed batter is going through a purple patch as he had two back-to-back good tours: Caribbean & Zimbabwe. It looks like the batter wants to be a permanent member of Team India in all the formats. The batter is looking a lot composed now as now he knows the importance of his wicket which was clearly seen in the County Debut.
Shubman would be aware that Selectors won’t consider him as the first choice as there is cut-throat competition in the Test Arena. The batter’s game quite suits ODI & Test Cricket as he gets ample time in the middle to go berserk. The Management of the Indian Cricket Team would have an eye on him as having an in-form opener is the need of the hour.
