The 27-year-old India National Cricket Team pacer Avesh Khan, who has featured in 31 matches across ODIs and T20Is, has shared his strong take on the captaincy of Shubman Gill, under whom he is playing in the India tour of Zimbabwe 2024 five-match T20I series.

Avesh Khan's remarks came after the conclusion of the third T20I between Shubman Gill-led India National Cricket Team and Sikandar Raza-led Zimbabwe National Cricket Team at the Harare Sports Club on Wednesday, July 10.

It was once again a dominant display from the young guns as India beat the Chevrons by 23 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Batting first, they posted a total of 182/4 on the board, riding on Shubman Gill's 66 and Ruturaj Gaikwad's 48. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was playing his first game on the tour, also made a good contribution of 36 runs with the bat and helped India's cause.

Defending the target, the Indian bowlers were once again right on the money as they picked three early wickets. The top order of Team Zimbabwe was back in the hut in the 4th over itself and they came under huge pressure. Also, the dismissal of skipper Sikandar Raza in the 7th over made things worse for them.

That was when Dion Myers stepped up and played a brilliant knock. The batsman slammed 65 runs off 49 balls to give India a major scare. However, no support from others meant, he wasn't able to get the job done.

For India, Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers for his figures of 3/15 while Avesh Khan (2/39) and Khaleel Ahmed (1/15) also made decent contributions.

Shubman is a bowler’s captain, gives us the freedom to set our fields and backs our plans - Avesh Khan

Speaking after the match, the star fast bowler Avesh Khan expressed happiness over his performance in the third T20I match against the Chevrons. Avesh Khan also said that he is always trying to create an impact for the team whenever he gets the opportunity and highlighted his readiness for bowling in every phase of the game.

While talking about the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan stated that he is a bowlers' captain as he gives them a lot of freedom and backs their plans. Notably, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are also called by many as the bowlers' captains, hence, the praise by Avesh will surely give extra confidence to Gill heading into the next match. Avesh Khan asserted:

"Happy with my performance, I always try to have an impact on the team. I have no preference on where to ball, I am ready to bowl at any phase. Shubman is a bowler’s captain, gives us the freedom to set our fields, and backs our plans. He is responsible for probably getting me 1-2 wickets today."

Ravi Bishnoi, who is regarded as one of the best fielders currently, took an absolute blinder to dismiss Brian Bennett in the third T20I. Talking about this, Avesh Khan said that the leg-spinner always produces such catches. The right-arm pacer said:

"(On Bishnoi) He is a good fielder, always takes catches like these, you would have seen it in the IPL as well. He always wants to take such extraordinary catches."
