Shubman Gill's bad condition brought to light, senior India players not taking him seriously

Amid several things noted from India's loss at Leeds, one of the major drawbacks that has been criticized by cricket greats has been Shubman Gill's captaincy in the first test.
Former Indian left-arm spinner Murali Kartik has also decided to keep his stance on the new Indian captain. He remarked that the on-field decisions of Shubman Gill seemed manipulated and overshadowed by the presence of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul.
The two experienced bats in India's test setup, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, provided on-field support to Shubman Gill; however, many had earlier claimed that the support was not sufficient.
However, for the first time, someone in the form of Murali Kartik has given an opposite viewpoint to the incident.
Shubman Gill's captaincy debut spoiled by too much advice - says Murali Kartik
Kartik pointed out how Rahul or Pant not only were making some decisions on the field but also seemed to be the eminent personalities who could overshadow the impact of Shubman Gill, who has actually been appointed as the new skipper.
“A senior player making slight changes here and there, correcting someone slightly when they feel they are slightly in the wrong position, sending third man or short fine, mid-on, mid-off; these are all fine occasionally. However, so many players taking calls so frequently is not a good sign,” said Murali Kartik, clearly indicating his disagreement.
India were favourites in the Leeds test after the end of Day 3's play, as Kartik also credits 371 to be a large amount of runs, and the England track not being good enough to discredit such a big chase.
“It is not easy to stamp your authority as captain in the field, especially when your bowlers are not able to stick to your plans, and that could be seen. These are small things, but they come under scrutiny when you lose."
Because 371 runs is a lot, and it didn’t even look like a wicket was going to come at all in the first session,” added Kartik.
Murali Kartik opposes the earlier statement made by Nasser Hussain on Shubman Gill's captaincy
In a recent turn of events, Murali Kartik, for the first time, has stepped up to critisize the involvement of too many players in a captaincy role for India.
Previously, former England captain Nasser Hussain had said that KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, being the senior pros in the Indian test side, should show more responsibility in providing Shubman Gill with valuable insights.
“At one point I felt there were too many captains,” said Kartik on Cricbuzz. “I just couldn’t understand that. KL Rahul was making hand movements, Rishabh Pant was also doing it, and so was Shubman Gill, who is actually the man appointed as captain. You wouldn’t want to complicate things,” added Murali.
India to make changes for the 2nd test at Edgbaston
India will go into the Edgbaston test with a possible new lineup, where the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna might miss the upcoming test for India.
Shardul Thakur will be replaced by the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, as the speculations suggest that India is all set to go with two frontline spinners, leaving aside Shardul's probable role as a lower-order batsman.
With a hope to manage Jasprit Bumrah's workload, he might be dropped for the second test, as a result of which Arshdeep Singh might make his way into the Indian test side. The absence of Prasidh Krishna from the Birmingham nets marked a stir over Akash Deep's probable return to the Indian Playing 11.
