Former India skipper Krishnamachari Srikkanth has taken a brutal dig at Royal Challengers Bengaluru after their exit from the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

RCB's dream of winning their maiden IPL title came to an end on Wednesday (May 22) with a defeat against Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB were the favorites to win the game after winning six games in a row. However, their form counted for little as Rajasthan Royals thrashed them by four wickets.

While RCB is receiving praise from several quarters for the way they turned their campaign around and qualified for the playoffs against all the odds, Srikkanth could not stop himself from taking a swipe at them and their fanbase. The former India opener said that RCB should not have "posted unnecessary videos & showed off too much" after beating Chennai Super Kings last week.

"In life when you are doing well keep your mouth shut and keep going, when you make noise out of something you are doing you cannot do that work," said Srikkanth on his YouTube channel.

Speaking further, Srikkanth said that Ravichandran Ashwin destroyed RCB only because they were showing off too much after the win over CSK. Ashwin played a key role in Rajasthan Royals' win by taking two crucial wickets while conceding only 19 runs. The veteran spinner was adjudged the Man of the Match for his display.

"They were posting unnecessary videos and showing off too much (after the win against CSK). That's why (Ravichandran) Ashwin came and destroyed them, that's why in cricket you need to shut your mouth and play.

"If you played well congrats, if you played poorly then take the criticism but you should never open your mouth and show aggression. They are going on congratulating themselves for qualifying for the playoffs and for the great comeback, CSK and MI have done this so many more times."

"CSK and Mumbai have both come from nowhere and won titles. These guys won six matches and as soon as they qualified they got knocked out," said Srikkanth.

Rajasthan Royals will now lock horns against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier for a place in the final. The winner of the game will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the title decider.
