SunRisers Hyderabad paceman Siddharth Kaul might not have delivered as per expectations in the last two IPL seasons; however, he remains a promising fast bowler. Siddharth Kaul’s best IPL edition was back in 2018 when he picked 21 wickets in 17 matches at 26.05. The 31-year old has opened up on the captaincy styles of David Warner and Kane Williamson.

The captaincy change from David Warner to Kane Williamson was a major subplot in IPL 2021 for the SunRisers Hyderabad. David Warner’s poor form and struggles began to affect his captaincy as well since the Orange Army could win only one out of five games under him this year. Warner’s past IPL record and the reputation of being the only skipper to lead the SunRisers to a title could not earn him an extended run as the management gave the powers to Williamson.

Siddharth Kaul highlighted that Kane Williamson tries to explore what the bowler can achieve and how he could deliver for the captain. According to the right-arm seamer, on the contrary, David Warner allows the bowler to express himself and backs their plans. Kaul further claimed that Williamson asks the bowlers their strategy and shares his ideas, while Warner wants them to stick to their plans and the natural game.

“Kane Williamson is more about understanding what the bowler can do and how he can deliver for me. David Warner tries to make you express yourself. Whatever you want to do, he backs you to do it. Kane Williamson asks you to share your plans and then shares his strategy with you. David Warner tells you to go out there and express yourself, and play your natural game,” Kaul told Sportskeeda.

It is all about a phase, and that phase has gone: Siddharth Kaul

Siddharth Kaul conceded that despite not being a big name in the tournament and enjoying the limelight, SunRisers Hyderabad have made the playoffs consistently. The 31-year old thinks that it’s only a rough patch and looks forward to the remaining eight matches and is still optimistic of the franchise winning the title. He predicts the SunRisers, who are languishing at the bottom of the table, to come back stronger in the second phase of IPL 2021.

“I have been associated with his team since 2015. We have been qualifying consistently for the playoffs. We are not a big name and that’s why we don’t get the limelight. One year does not change everything. It is all about a phase, and that phase has gone. We have to think about the next phase and those eight matches. If we win eight matches, we will qualify again just like Mumbai Indians, who won their last games and won the title. You can’t predict in cricket. I feel we will come back stronger in the second phase of IPL 2021,” he added.
